Johnson City, TN – Tennessee’s Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) has announced a $163 million broadband expansion initiative, including a substantial grant to Cloud Wise Academy. This funding will support the academy’s mission to enhance digital literacy and tech education across multiple Tennessee counties.
Governor Bill Lee and TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter emphasized the need for accessible broadband for educational and economic opportunities. As part of this, Cloud Wise Academy received a $346,681 grant for advanced digital skills training and workforce development in Washington, Carter, Greene, Sullivan, and Unicoi Counties.
“Cloud Wise Academy is thrilled to be part of Tennessee’s fully connected future,” said Joe McKenna, Founder of Cloud Wise Academy. “This grant enables us to further our commitment to empowering communities with essential digital-first economy skills.”
This grant is part of Tennessee’s effort to ensure statewide internet access and digital job opportunities by 2028. Cloud Wise Academy’s programs will contribute to building a skilled workforce ready for the modern technological landscape.
